Learning Forum - "Batter Up! South Dakota's Basin League"

April 15, 2018  2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Celebrate America's favorite past time with Darrell Shoemaker! The Basin League Learning Forum will shed light onto South Dakota's time as host of the Basin League, a semi-professional baseball league that ran from 1953 to 1973. Made up of mostly college baseball stand outs, the Basin League also housed some journeyman Major League Baseball players. Future baseball greats like Bob Gibson, Jim Palmer, Frank Howard and Don Sutton played in the Basin League before their MLB careers.

Learning Forums are wide-ranging, thought-provoking presentations. Each program includes a 45-minute presentation followed by a meet and great with the presenters with light snacks and refreshments

Admission includes all other museum activities and is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, half-off for members & FREE for students (ages 6 - 17) with a paid adult/senior admission. Reserve your spot in advance by calling 605-394-6923.

Typical schedule:
2 - 2:45 pm presentation
2:45 - 3 pm Q & A session with presenter(s)
