Summer Series: Eyes of the Storm

June 7, 2019  5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

KOTA Meteorologist Mike Modrick takes us back to the flood of 1972. Take a look at footage of the flood and learn about the challenges facing media organizations to inform the public in times of crisis.

Journey Museum and Learning Center Curator Corey Christianson will discuss the history of the flood that took 238 lives and changed the lives of many others in the span of 12 hours.

This program will be recorded and added to the archive collection here at The Journey Museum and Learning Center.

No admission will be charged for this important presentation. Please call 394-6923 to reserve seats.

Theater map below. Seats marked ADA indicate wheelchair accessibility. Blue seats indicate space for foldout chairs, but ADA needs take first priority.

Seeking free will donations.

We will also commemorate the anniversary of the flood with an extended cut of “One Night in June: The Black Hills Flood of 1972.” The film includes “MegaFloods: The 1972 Awakening,” video created for the 40th anniversary. The movie will be shown daily from June 5-14 in our Wells Fargo Theater. Check with Visitor Services for show times.
