Journey Discussion: Western Skies and Lakota Star Knowledge

January 28, 2022  2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Journey Museum Archivist/Curator Megan Ostrenga will guide us through the skies as they appear now and throughout this winter season by discussing the mythology of Western constellations as well as knowledge of Lakota constellations. This is a seasonal program and will change with the sky.

NASA and The South Dakota Space Consortium is sponsoring this presentation, so no admission fee will be charged. Seating is limited. Call 605-394-6923 to reserve your place at the museum. Join the presentation virtually by registering here.

This presentation will be followed by a discussion with the audience.

Megan Ostrenga has been the Archivist/Curator at The Journey Museum and Learning Center since December 2021. She earned her bachelors degree in Secondary Education and Earth Science from Northern Arizona University and her masters degree in Heritage and Museum Sciences from Texas Tech University.

Ostrenga has worked as a Science Educator, Camps Director, Collections Assistant, and Site Manager at museums around the county - including Lowell Observatory, the Home of Pluto, where she gained her background in space sciences.

You can sit anywhere you like in our theater! The seating map is below. Seats marked ADA indicate wheelchair accessibility. Blue seats indicate space for foldout chairs, but those with ADA requirements take first priority.
