Journey Through The Journey

Join us at for Journey through the Journey! Each day, encounter an in-depth look at the museum that you haven't seen before. Interact with artifacts and experts, and acquire new knowledge that people of all ages will enjoy.

These educational activities are included with museum admission and are free for members. The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. from Dec. 28-31.

Lakota Star Knowledge: This oral history is a cultural journey! Travel through the stars and learn about the lunar cycle.
Rock Cycle: Discover why rocks look different from one another and exactly how they're made!

Stuck in the Mud: Experimenting with fossils!
Lakota Archaeology: The story of an arrowhead.

Lakota Games: Play traditional games in this cultural experience!
The Making of a Tipi: Explore the ins and outs of a tipi!
Pioneer Fun: Pioneers had to get creative for entertainment and communication. Discover the magic lantern and the telegraph!

Animal Habitats: How Black Hills forests and the animals within have adapted over time.
Modern Medicine: We'll reveal the differences between natural and modern medicine.

The Journey Museum is currently in Winter Hours:

Winter Hours

(October 1st – April 30th)
10 AM – 5 PM Monday through Saturday
1 PM – 5 PM Sundays

Summer Hours

(May 1st – September 30th)
9 AM – 6 PM Monday through Saturday
11 AM – 5 PM Sundays


All individual admissions are good for two days with receipt.

Museum General Admission:

Adults (ages 18+) $10
Seniors (ages 62+) $8
Students (ages 6 – 17) $7
Children 5 & under FREE with family

Groups (10+ people):

$7 per person

Tour guides available. Please call (605) 394-6923 one week prior to visit to schedule.

Education Groups (12+ students):

$3 per student (all students 18 and under)
$5 College Students

Chaperones are requested. Special pricing will be extended to adult chaperones.
