Love the Outdoors Series - An Evening With Teddy Roosevelt

  • Journey Museum & Learning Center 222 New York Street Rapid City, SD, 57701 United States (map)

Join us for An Evening with Teddy Roosevelt: Public Lands and the Duty to Protect our Water.

Joe Wiegand is the world's premiere Theodore Roosevelt reprisor. As an actor and historian, his portrayals of Theodore Roosevelt have been enjoyed by audiences in all fifty states and internationally.

This program is part of the Riparian Restoration Series presented by the Black Hills Fly Fishers and will be featured in the 2026 Greenway Days celebration, commemorating the flood of 1972.

On June 9, 1972, a flood along Rapid Creek claimed 238 lives and reshaped our city. Instead of rebuilding in the floodplain, the community chose to transform the land into a living memorial: miles of greenway, trails, and parks along the creek.

Founded in 2006, Friends of Rapid City Parks helps protect that legacy, advocates against floodplain encroachment, and gathers neighbors to enjoy this shared space.

Rapid City Greenway Days is an annual celebration presented by the Friends of Rapid City Parks celebrating the greenway, trails, and parks along the creek.
