Turtle Soup | Gina Gibson - Geek Speak: Gravitational Waves, Particle Colliders, Dark Matter and More: A Sabbatical Story

  • Journey Museum & Learning Center 222 New York Street Rapid City, SD, 57701 United States (map)

Gina, the Professor of Digital Communication at BHSU, will share her experience as an artist in various science facilities.

In 2020, Gina became the first artist-in-residence for the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota. SURF, the deepest underground laboratory in the United States, extends nearly a mile below the surface and hosts cutting-edge experiments in dark matter and neutrino physics, as well as biology, geology, and engineering. The success of her inaugural artist-in-residence program led to a new partnership between BHSU and SURF, as well as the appointment of Gibson as the coordinator of the SURF Artist-in-Residence program (SURF AiR).

Gina will also speak on her experiences at the University of Zürich Physics Institute.
